Field Building

In 2018, Invest Health launched a second phase, informed by learnings from phase one. Called Invest Health Field Building, the second phase involves three approaches:

  1. A reflection of the national landscape of building healthier and more equitable communities.
  2. Targeted supports to a group of ten cities to advance policies and practices that increase capital flows to equity-promoting built environment investments.
  3. Increasing practical ideas that improve the flow of capital to address the social determinants of health in small to mid-size places.
 

National Reflection Convening

In November 2018, Reinvestment Fund hosted a reflection convening to launch the Invest Health Field Building Initiative called Health.Equity.Capital: Lessons, Trends & Future Opportunities, with both city team members and representatives from similarly aligned national initiatives to discuss lessons and challenges in building healthier and more equitable communities.

Ten of 50 Invest Health cities selected for Field Building program

Ten Invest Health cities are receiving a range of support over 12 months. The program was co-designed with city teams to align city goals and initiative goals and gives teams supports that include. access to highly skilled technical advisors to help implement a pipeline of projects and system change strategies, connection to a peer learning community, and funding for convening and staff support.

Health Capital Roundtables explore capital flows in small to mid-sized cities

Convening representatives from diverse funding sectors, Reinvestment Fund is hosting two Health Capital Roundtables to understand the unique investment environments of small to mid-sized cities. The roundtables will look at the challenges to connecting capital to projects, opportunities to shift the community investment system, best practices for investments that address the social determinants of health.
