Hartford, Connecticut worked to examine, assess, and improve the food system from production through consumption in the North Hartford Promise Zone, through investable built environment opportunities with a focus on the retail food environment and mid-sized independent grocery stores. They also worked to integrate affordable housing development into their strategic grocery planning and neighborhood development. They are an Invest Health Field Building city team.

During their Invest Health Field Building year, Hartford plans to advance the Healthy Hartford Hub Project as a centerpiece in building a framework for community and stakeholder engagement and informing the development of a sustainable community engagement roadmap for other built environment projects in the city. Their goal is that collaborative system building over the next year will be the key driver to success, not only for the Hub, but also to advance other projects in the pipeline.
