The city of Eau Claire has been chosen to be a part of a national health initiative.

The new “Invest Health” initiative works to help low-income communities thrive. City officials will be working with the national program to talk about how to improve community health.

The focus will be on increasing access to safe and affordable housing, places to exercise, and quality jobs.

“We are excited to work with partners across the city to focus our efforts on improving health outcomes through affordable housing, healthy spaces, and sustainable growth,“ Dale Peters, Eau Claire city manager, said in a release sent out Tuesday through the Eau Claire City-County Health Department. “This project will fit naturally into the great work we are already doing to improve our neighborhoods and community health.”

The project will take place over the next 18 months.
