need to be strengthened in order to improve the health of children and adults. Their new “Invest Health” initiative will be working in 50 mid-sized cities across the country.

The Genesee County Health Department and community partners, including universities in Flint, helped secure the resources.

“Some of the goals are to try and improve the economic conditions here because we know those social determinants like employment, appropriate housing all have impacts on health. And so the goal is to address some of these social determinants and see if we can improve the health condition overall in this community,” said Mark Valacak, health officer with the Genesee County Health Department.
